This is keeping true to the genre, and therefore not much action is going on :-) The seven deadly sins has always been a topic that works on almost any media and Sacra Terra: Angelic Night is no exception. The story is good, the personification of the deadly sins I really liked! And it's a fairly long game for the point and click genre. At no point did I think it was getting trivial or predictable. All in all a good expierience.. Tried to control myself from buying those pointless 'point n click' hidden object games but somehow caved in and bought it when it was on sale. Played this with my children and they absolutely loved this genre and found the story quite interesting!Did not regret buying this and it prompted me to buy other similar games.. Classic HOG that set the bar for presentation and puzzle types back in its day. No longer groundbreaking, but still worth playing today!. quot;Sacra Terra: Angelic Night" is an OK game. The puzzles and Hidden Object Games (HOGs) are good, and since there's no voice-acting at all, that didn't get messed up. The one thing I found lacking was the story. First off, the plot is trite (even for a HOG). Secondly, I have no idea what it all means. The end of the main story left me scratching my head. So, I thought that the bonus chapter would clear things up. Nope. I still have no idea what they were aiming for in the story. But, since the gameplay was decent and the HOGs/puzzles good, the 6.1 hours I spent on it (5.0 hours in the main game and 1.1 hours in the bonus chapter) were worth even the current list price of about $5.. A HOG where you get to capture the 7 deadly sins. That's got to be worth something right? I enjoyed it and would recomend it to anyone.. Great wee game... plenty of puzzles not difficult but not too easy either... great animations and graphics.. Well worth a few quid in my opinion. Thumbs up. I'm on the fence with this game, and rate it a 5/10. The artwork was nice and the gameplay all worked well enough. However the puzzles in the game were overly simple (eg, a tri-wheel puzzle where you had to sort pictures was already 90% completed at the start). And some of the hidden object objects were blended to the point where it was difficult to see them on the screen (admittedly this may have been fixed by altering my screen brightness/contrast, but I've never had to do that for any other hidden object game). The storyline was kind of sanctimonious, and left a whole lot of unanswered questions. And for a game set in a hospital, the gamemakers seem to know very little about medical school or how hospitals run. The game introduces the heads of the hospital fairly early on as being a husband and wife doctor team who were also Prom King and Queen at medical school (because apparently that's a thing). But it all went to hell (literally) because of another women (Professor Avinci... can't remember the spelling) who was jealous of Dr Maria Mobile (Prom Queen) for her beauty. Apparently only being Class President and having a Phd as well as a doctorate clearly made her the lesser woman. The hospital also featured it's own Notre Dame replica, a giant statue of Dr Mobile (Prom King), an Alchemist on the payroll, and Dr Mobile's (Prom King's) revolutionary therapy methods where he tortured the sin out of people...Warning: Spoilers beyond this point[/b] For things that generally annoyed me in the game: the various people who were condemned for their sins seemed to be pretty normal people, and the comments from the main character where about how horrible those people where and how they deserved what they got was quite sanctimonious. Gluttony enjoyed food sure, but as a chef it was kind of in the job description. From the description of Sloth, I'm pretty sure the poor guy was suffering from depression. Greed was apparently a miser because he counted every coin and wouldn't lend the hospital's money to people, which once again as an accountant I'm pretty sure that was his job. And Lust gets condemned for eternity because he flirted with nurses. Most annoying of all was how the storyline made Proffessor Avinci (or whatever her name was) jealous of Dr Maria Mobile because obviously being more beautiful made Maria the superior person. So she turns to witchcraft and poisons, because as a well educated woman apparently that was the best option. Then all the evils that are happening pretty much get heaped on her, but from what I can make of the timeline I'm pretty sure all the torturing of people has going on long before Maria died. I mean, the hospital was designed with a secret torture chamber and a dungeon... As for unanswered questions. Everyone is apparently dead or a demon tied to the hospital, so who brought me to the hospital and put me in a gown? You never encounter another living being for the whole game. And what about the other "patients" that were listed as being in the hospital? What happened to those people? And I can't work out the timeline of the game. When did the torture start? Maria and Angel apparently died a month apart, and it must have been before the demons were released because someone built them a mausoleum with a garden. So everyone was running around being evil of their own free will long before the demons came into the picture. And what happened to the Alchemist?. Another decent hidden object game, the gameplay is perfectly fine - the puzzles are easy, the hidden object scenes are decent although the same scenes are used a bit too often, the length is pretty standard for these types of games (one evenings worth roughly) - although it probably feels like it will take longer it speeds up towards the end. The best element of the game is the story/atmosphere which is significantly better than the norm for the genre. In terms of gameplay the point and click part of the game is relatively decent and mostly logical, with a map with hints of everywhere you can do anything, and an active hint system beyond that if you need more help - the puzzle minigames are all easy - I skipped one, where you need to know the order of astrological systems as I couldn't be bothered to look it up, but the puzzle is just swapping the symbols over, there is no complexity or thought needed, as with most of the other puzzles. So overall this is a fairly easy one to recommend, just don't expect a challenge, just an easy ride through a somewhat decent mildly scary story.. I really did enjoy this hidden object game, alot of thought and care has been put into this which is more than I can say for some of the newer ones. The music and background sound effects really set the tone well and I love the art style. The story line is rather good as well which is a nice bonus and it took me a good few hours to compleat.. This is one of the better P&C/HOG's of it's type I've played in a while. Although the cutscenes were slightly blurry for me, all the other graphics were crisp. The art, gameplay, storyline, and voice acting were all pretty good. The one exception for me was whenever the Angel character would appear, they would literally say, "Aaaaannnngeeeelllll..." in a whispered reverb that almost seemed as if they meant it to be comical - except that it was clear that was not their intent. Although there was some noticable repetition, the hidden object puzzles were decent w/ about average difficulty. I can only remember a single misnamed object (i.e., "Whistle" that should have been "Scroll"). The mini games were standard issue. There's plenty of gameplay (i.e., duration) and for once the bonus level wasn't a complete waste of time. All in all, I give this game a straightforward recommend.Once I set the desired graphics options via game's menu, it ran well for me on Linux Mint 18 (Wine/PlayOnLinux). I also had to set the Mint panel to autohide or otherwise it would show even when game was set to fullscreen. The only other noticeable technical issue I experienced was that the game would sometimes take up to 2 minutes to shut down completely after exiting the game via its menu. But it always successfully shut down on it's own without me having to xkill Steam. Other than those things, it played as expected without issue.PS I almost exclusively play offline. I typically only play online long enough for Steam to allow me to write a review. So Steam only shows that I played 0.1 hrs although I've played at least 5 hrs and have completed both games.
